What “hail-active Midwest and Plains” means
It is the wording on the partner page. It is not a published roster of partner states. Where THP currently has a partner is unknown until you apply and we say so. Census “Midwest” alone would drop Texas, Oklahoma, and Colorado into the wrong box — those are Census South and West. “Midwest and Plains” is the honest vernacular. USGS High Plains and SPC hail climatology both run through that belt.
How hail seasonality typically runs
NOAA Climate.gov, citing SPC climatology: severe hailstorms often strike May–July; Southern Plains peak May–June; upper Midwest June–July. Cintineo et al. (2012) describe a triangular corridor of severe hail from southwest Texas toward northwest Missouri and the Front Range, with June most active. That is weather. It is not a THP appointment calendar.
