Qualified appointment

A confirmed meeting with a decision-maker about a commercial property. If any of those three is missing, it is not an appointment.

For licensed commercial roofing contractors

Angi sells matches to homeowners. You need a meeting with a building.

HomeAdvisor is the same company family. This page compares the public product — not invented per-lead prices. THP is not a marketplace.

Direct answer

Angi, HomeAdvisor, and Thumbtack sell shared or pay-regardless leads, mostly residential in practice. Commercial roofing contractors who buy them often compete on the same inquiry and pay even if nobody books. THP is not a marketplace. If you qualify, one contractor gets the appointment, and THP is paid only after you close and collect.

What do Angi, HomeAdvisor, and Thumbtack sell to roofers?

As of 2026-09-01, Angi Inc.’s FY 2025 Form 10-K describes a consumer home-services marketplace. Pros pay for consumer matches “regardless of whether the Pro ultimately provides the requested service.” Angi, Angie’s List, HomeAdvisor, and Handy sit in one company. HomeAdvisor’s pro page markets connecting you with homeowners. Angi.com/how-it-works tells homeowners to compare quotes. Thumbtack is another homeowner marketplace — same job-to-be-done, not covered as a second page.

Why shared leads hurt commercial work more than residential

A $400 residential leak can survive three bids. A commercial recover usually cannot. Decision cycles are longer, specs are tighter, and showing up as bidder four burns the only meeting you had that week. Cost-per-lead worksheets live on commercial leads — this page owns the marketplace rules, not the arithmetic table.

Exclusive appointment versus a shared bid

Exclusive means one contractor owns the meeting. Shared means the same inquiry can be sold more than once. Angi does not publish a current “sold to N contractors” count on a public rate card we could fetch. The 10-K also describes double opt-in and consumer-selected pros in 2025 offerings. Write it as both: homeowners are still told to get multiple quotes; pros still pay for matches whether they win the job.

Pay-regardless versus pay after you collect

Marketplace invoices fire when you buy the match — not when the building owner signs, and not when you collect. A back-end partnership, if you qualify, funds the set and is paid after close and collection. Who holds no-close risk versus pay-per-appointment shops is its own page.

Who those marketplaces are built for

Homeowners with a project. Hundreds of categories. That is a feature for a deck builder. It is a mismatch for a commercial roofing company that needs facility or ownership authority on a specific roof.

When a marketplace still fits

If you also run residential, want overflow, and can bid against other pros on purpose. If your book is commercial-only, you are buying the wrong object.
